P.1 What does music in film do?

Music in film is used to:

Create an atmosphere and also creates a mood and triggers emotion such as happiness and sadness.
it also emphasis an action.
The pase of the film helps the narrative flow.
Music can also replace dialogue such as for example in silent films.
Also music can establish a location, culture and even a character. For example in jaws as soon as we hear the sound we know straight away that the shark is there even if we dont see it.

There are different kid on sounds that can be added to a film such as:
Diegetic sound which is what the characters can hear which is made on set.
Non diegetic is completely the opposite as its made in a studio, kind of like foley sounds.
Sound effects, ambient sounds, character themes, amplified sound, soundbridge, contrapunta, major and minor key, soundscape, sound narrative, sonic wallpaper and finally distorted music can also be added.
